Domestic courier company Blue Dart Express on Thursday forged a sales alliance with DHL Worldwide Express as per which the latter will take care of all overseas business of the domestic company.
The alliance, which will be effective from October 1, has been forged after Blue Dart decided to part ways with another gobal major Fedex, with the tie-up expiring on September 30.
Speaking at a press conference here, Bryan Jamison, Area Director (South East Asia) of DHL Worldwide Express said the alliance would help Blue Dart customers to send their export shipments in an efficient manner while DHL would benefit from Blue Dart's widespread presence in the domestic market.
He said the alliance, signed for a period of 5 years, would help further boost DHL's share in the Indian market which currently stands at 60%.
Blue Dart managing director Clyde Cooper, said the tie-up would further enhance shareholder value and benefit customers.
Mr. Jamison said DHL would continue to invest more in the domestic market in building up its infrastructure, services and people.
About the separation from Fedex, Cooper said Blue Dart had two options, to either renew the agreement after September 30 or tie-up with other players. (PTI)
