Blue Dart planning to invest Rs 200 crore

Expanding services to the North East, courier package and distribution company, Blue Dart Express Limited announced the inauguration of a new in warehouse in Guwahati. The company is planning to invest to the tune of Rs 200 crore across the country to boost its service.
The 6600 sq ft warehouse will improve storage and handling of shipments, besides enhancing connectivity.
Addressing media persons here today, Amod Dasgupta, vice president - East of Blue Dart Express Ltd said that in view of growing business in the region, the company has to decided to introduce new facilities.
"The region is a potential destination for investments from both national and international companies. In order to sustain this growth and attract more investments, we are planning to improve the logistics support by adding new service centres in the city by year-end" he added.
Blue Dart offers services to all major industries in the region including tea, telecom, pharmaceuticals, personal hygiene, banking and insurance among others.
The company has also a plan to add 120 new facilities across the country in 2008, out of which this region will get five.
"The eastern market has seen phenomenal growth in the past few years supported strongly by an upsurge in the tier II and tier III cities. More over, with the emerging small and medium enterprises, based in East, will further fuel the growth and economic prosperity," Dasgupta said.
Blue Dart, South Asia's premier courier and integrated express package distribution company, has a strong network covering 17,500 locations in the country.
