Air express courier and package distribution company Blue Dart Express on Friday said it has planned a capital expenditure of Rs 100 crore in 2009 to upgrade its infrastructure. "We want to strengthen our infrastructure at warehouses and airports. The capital expenditure will be met through internal accruals," Blue Dart managing director Anil Khanna said here. The Rs 100-crore capex is part of the Rs 1,000-crore capex planned by Blue Dart at 2007-end. The Rs 1,000-crore capex would be spent in the next five to seven years. The company has spent about Rs 200 crore in capex this year, he said, adding, it plans to set up 58 new warehouses by 2010 at strategic locations to help its shipments move fast, he said. At present, Blue Dart has 50 warehouses. Khanna said the slowdown in the Indian GDP had affected volume growth of the logistics industry as well.
