Blue Dart Net Up 51 Pc

Blue Dart Express has posted a net profit of Rs 10.05 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2004, representing a 51.4 per cent increase on the Rs 6.64 crore recorded in the previous corresponding quarter.
An official statement quoting the Managing Director, Mr Clyde Cooper, said: "The second quarter has been a challenging one for Blue Dart with the 43 per cent increase in the price of aviation turbine fuel in India since April. The Blue Dart fuel surcharge mechanism has been a successful mitigating measure to the impact of these spiralling costs.
"Profit before tax for the second quarter ended September 30, 2004, stood at Rs 15.99 crore (Rs 10.35 crore) Income from operations for the quarter under review grew to Rs 115.87 crore (Rs 88.56 crore), representing an increase of 30.8 per cent over the corresponding quarter in the previous year.
Net profit for the first-half ended September 30, 2004, stood at Rs 18.39 crore (Rs 12.19 crore).
The statement added that investments by the company in infrastructure and capacity addition of 60 tonne per night through the induction of a fourth aircraft last May were begining to yeild results.
