Blue Dart To make Ahmedabad Hub

In a major affirmation of Gujarat's growing importance in its future growth, courier service provider Blue Dart has announced plans to make Ahmedabad its seventh domestic air station after Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The Ahmedabad air station is all set to come up in the second half of 2006, for which parking bay at the airport and space for warehousing facilities has already been acquired, Blue Dart CEO Malcolm Monteiro told reporters here on Wednesday while unveiling an SMS based shipment tracking service.
The Rs 462 crore turnover Blue Dart, which has invested around Rs 2.5 crore in Gujarat over the past two years, expects a 20 per cent growth in revenues from Gujarat which is emerging as a major hub for pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery and the textile industry, Monterio said.
