Blue Dart net up 38 pc at Rs 15.35 cr

Blue Dart Express Ltd has posted a profit after tax of Rs 15.35 crore for the quarter ended December 31,2006, up 38 per cent on the Rs 11.12 crore registered in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The turnover for the quarter ended December 31,2005, at Rs 149.11 crore represented a 22.73 per cent improvement over the corresponding period of the previous year.
For the nine - month period ended December 31, 2005, net profit stood at 43.41 crore, up 47.20 per cent on the Rs 29.49 crore posted in the previous year. Turnover for the nine - month period increased by 25.27 per cent at rs 422.67 crore (Rs 337.41 crore).
According to the company, it had added 30 service and operation centres across the country during the year, and four modern, warehouse facilities at Delhi, Bangalore, ahmedabad and Jaipur.
Technology support was also augmented with enhanced bandwith and connectivity.
During Apirl to December 2005, the company carried 37.67 million shipments weighing 96,024 tonnes compared to 30.84 million shipments weighing 81,676 tonnes for the corresponding period in 2004.
A statement quoting Mr Clyde Cooper, Managing Director, said : "We countine to upgrade and expand our infrastructure to deliver service excellence to Indian business not available elsewhere in the domestic express industry."
