Blue Dart's Profile More than Triples

Blue Dart Express Limited, India's largest air express company declared its financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 1999 at a board meeting held in the city today.

The Company's sales for the first quarter of the financial year 1999-00 have increased by 16% as compared to the first quarter of the previous year. Blue Dart's domestic core products have grown by over 28% as compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year and the Company has improved its earnings by recording a profit before tax of Rs.182 lacs as against Rs.51 lacs of the corresponding period of the previous year.

Commenting on Blue Dart's performance for the first quarter, Mr. Clyde Cooper, Managing Director, Blue Dart Express Limited said that the Company has improved its performance on all parameters. The Company continues to strengthen its dominance in the Domestic Markets and has significantly grown its operating profits with a mixture of topline growth and effective cost management.

Blue Dart's Superhub, the Blue Dart Centre, is equipped with the latest State-of-the-Art technology and equipments and shall be completely operational by end July, 1999. This will enable the Company to enhance its load handling capacity and improve its efficiency and productivity. The Superhub having 35,000 sq.ft. of area is situated on Sahar Airport Road, Mumbai, within the vicinity of the International Airport.

The Company's wholly owned subsidiary Blue Dart Aviation has recorded a profit for the first quarter of this year.
